Atsushi Yoshinaka, born 1963 in Mie, Japan, is an Associate Professor of music education at college of Education, Psychology and Human Studies, Aoyama Gakuin University (Tokyo, Japan) and a chairperson of the Creative Music Education Lab at Kenshin Early Education Research. Also he is a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Education,Simon Fraser University from 2012-2013.
Yoshinaka received degrees from Kunitachi College of Music (Tokyo, Japan), Longy
School of Music (MA. USA) and California Institute of the Arts (CA. USA). He studied with John McDonald, Mel Powell, Morton Subotnick and Fred Rzewski.
As a composer, Yoshinaka has been a Musical Director of a modern dance company
"The Performer's Shop" since 1987. His composition and improvisational performances work with many types of dancers (include the dancers in wheelchair) all over Japan.Also his music has been released on the compact disc "don't panic ! 60 seconds for piano" Guy Livingston, piano (WERGO a division of SCHOTT MUSIC & MEDIA, Germany).Also his music was selected for presentation at the Extensible Toy Piano Festival based upon the results of the XTP composition competition.
Yoshinaka’s works had performed in many countries such as South Africa, Holland, Israel, Germany and U.S...etc. .
