鯉のぼりは、江戸時代に始まったとされる日本の風習です。もともと、鯉は非常に生命力が強い魚として古くから知られており、端午の節句（5月5日）に、この鯉の絵柄を布などに描き、まるで水の中を元気に泳ぐように、天高く、家庭の庭先に飾り、男児の成長と出世を願ったとされています。

Koinobori necktie （for child）
Koinobori, which means “carp streamer”, is a carp-shaped wind socks flown to celebrate Children’s Day that started in the Edo period. Koi (carp) is known for its strong ability to survive, symbolizing courage and strength in the Japanese Culture. Children’s Day taking place on May 5th, Koinobori are decorated outside houses in honor of sons hoping their health, growth, and prosperity.
